Shadow of the Eagle

Shadow of the Eagle is a fictional love story from the early 18th century, when Finland was still under Russian rule. During these years of oppression, freedom of speech was limited and young Finnish men were forced to join the Russian army. The movie tells the story of a young poet who becomes the symbol of the nation’s dream of freedom and is haunted as he strongly protests against Russification. The story is set in a city that is being led by the power abusing commander of Russian troops. He places the poets loved one, a young girl, before an impossible choice; the life of her father or the life of the man she loves.
